He stood beside her, looking carefully at her hand on the tree. "I'd say you're a step ahead of many others of your kind." He leaned down to her eye level and gently placed his hand over hers. "Listen not to just the trees or the flowers, but rather the water flowing through them. Every living thing thrives because of it and it is not surprising to find out that both the are often speaking in tandem." He said, allowing just a little of his magic to flow through her hand and into the tree.

Lapis closed her eyes and felt differently at the sign of the tree. It was just as he said, she found she could hear so much more. It was beautiful and frightening at the same time. It was almost overwhelming but Lapis couldn't bring herself to pull her hand away. "It's..wonderful." she breathed in awe

The Beast chuckled lightly and kept his hand steady for a moment before slowly retracting it from Lapis'. He continued to listen to the conversation, albeit the tree was doing the large sum of it with it's various whispers and murmurings. "You may speak to it, you know." He said a bit quieter, not wanting his voice to overshadow what Lapis was hearing.

Lapis nodded and kept her hand on the tree. "I am sorry that humans have hurt you so." she said quietly. "I..I understand what that is like, but I will take care of you and this garden I promise. No one will hurt you anymore.' A long time ago she would have found this silly to talk to trees but now. Now she felt warmed by it. And she was grateful for what the Beast had shown her

With a tilt of his head, he narrowed his eyes in amusement. It was almost like watching a fawn try to walk for the first time. His shoulders shook a little as he slowly walked around the garden, letting Lapis continue her conversation without him looming over her shoulder. He continued to listen to the flowers, the water fairy being quite a very reoccurring topic.

Lapis closed her eyes as she listened to the tree. Who knew that nature had so much to say. She wished humans could hear it. Maybe then, they would have understood what they were doing to nature was either harmful or taken for granted. Sighing, she pushed herself away from the tree. "Thank you." she whispered

He closed his eyes and shook his head. "No thanks is needed. Everyone should experience the words of nature at least once im their lifetime." He opened his eyes and turned to face her."With practice, even you could perfect such a gift." It made him happy to see how entranced she was after the conversation. She had potential to change nature for the better, but he supposed this garden was as good as a place to be at the moment.

Lapis gave a tiny smile. "Really?" she asked, hoping that was true. She didn't realize that water fairies could do just such things as earth fairies could do. It felt nice to feel important to nature and such. "I don't think we ever introduced ourselves. I'm Lapis, Lapis Lazuli."

He nodded at her hopeful reply. "But of course." He returned to her side and leaned down to her height once more. "Lapis Lazuli..." He repeated the name to properly remember it. It was an unusual name to him, but then again his vessel's name was something a bit more odd. "Unfortunately, I have no proper name to give you in return. Humans simply called me 'The Beast' when I was first seen by them and that was all I've been called since." He said in a rather calm tone.

'The Beast.' Lapis nodded, but she felt that it was almost a cruel name. Almost like labeling, beasts were monsters and destructive. This one wasn't he was kind and gentle. He didn't deserve a name like that. "I am sorry, everyone deserves a name. But if you wish me to call you the Beast I can do so," she said.

The Beast stood up straight once more, nodding again. "That would be for the best, in this form. However, I would advise against calling me as such while I am under my human guise. It may confuse others and put you in a bad light. And I certainly wouldn't want that to happen to you." He cautioned.

"You have a human guise?" her voice sounded nervous and a bit distrustful at first. "I see, what should I call you if I see you when you are in that guise?"

The uncertainty was expected from her, based on her previous words of how she felt towards humans. "I am to be called Wirt. Odd yes but it fits the guise." He moved his cloak, reaching into the darkness to pull out his lantern. It was a risky move to show her this, but his trust in her was surely growing. "I don't think it would be wise to show you my appearance as a human right now, but know that so long as this lantern is on the human's person, that is me." Though, that idiot red pointy hat should be another dead give away.

Lapis wasn't sure how to feel about his looks. She knew better than to judge people based on appearance. It still surprised her. She nodded instead and smiled. "I'll keep that in mind." she said, "I am normally here in the gardens, until I have to leave." She gave a small smile "Unfortunately i couldn't convince Drac to let me sleep here."

The beast titled his head a little, his curiosity being evident to the other. "Have you known him long? This Drac person?" He asked. He himself hadn't bothered to stay long during the chaos of all the check-ins and crowds, so he hadn't managed to learn anyone else's name.
